The Garden Mission:
To build a community of confident, caring and inquisitive children through responsive, research driven caregiving.
I believe that children:
To build a community of confident, caring and inquisitive children through responsive, research driven caregiving.
I believe that children:
- learn best when they have the ability to participate in self-directed play.
- benefit from using the early years of their life to build the foundational/soft skills necessary for learning later in life.
- function at their highest level when they are in an environment where they feel safe and comfortable.
- we utilize a child-led, teacher-facilited emergent curriculum program. By communicating with the child from infancy in a respectful manner children learn to see themselves as a valuable participant in their own learning experiences.
- emphasis is put on supporting children as they develop the 4 C's of communication, collaboration, communication and creativity in order to afford them the best start in kindergarten and beyond.
- relationship building is at the core of our curriculum. A low child to teacher ratio facilitates relationship building between the adults and children. Children who feel close to their caregivers feel heard, understood and safe while away from home. Additionally the environment is kept clean and organized with an emphasis placed on appropriate accessibility to materials and toys. As a child development home the space is cozy, inviting and full of soft spaces where a child can refresh themselves.
